Whether you’re after asphalt or concrete milling, at Surfprep we offer a full range of bobcat milling (cold planning) services. We have a large variety of well-maintained bobcat milling heads that range in width from 75mm up to 600mm. These have the ability to mill down to 150mm per pass and carry out work on asphalt, chip-seal and all grades of concrete and epoxy surfaces. Our concrete milling heads can cut channels, bevel edges or even profile large areas.
Unique to Surfprep is our large range of grinding equipment – both handheld, walk behind and bobcat mounted.
Handheld & walk behind grinders
Our 5’ and 7’ hand held grinders enable us to sort out the smaller fiddly jobs, while our 800mm triple head walk behind grinders and our heavy skid-steer mounted single head grinders allow us to remove concrete floor coatings, grind to level and undertake concrete polishing.
Our bobcat grinders vary from our bobcat milling heads (cold planners) in that the cutting teeth are not mounted on a drum. Instead, they’re mounted on a spinning plate that runs parallel with the surface it is cutting. With our bobcat grinders we are able to cut, level, hone, texture, scabble, flatten or remove coatings off almost any surface. Our grinding heads vary in width from 300mm up to 800mm and with the power of a bobcat behind them work precisely and at incredible production rates.
At Surfprep we operate a number of bobcat mounted road sweeping broom buckets which enable us to rapidly clean up most spilt materials. Our road sweeping broom buckets are also used extensively in conjunction with our asphalt milling heads (cold planners), enabling our operators to rapidly pick up asphalt millings. Roadways and car-parks can be swept with ease and the high lift capacity on our bobcats enable us to load even the largest of eight-wheelers.
Our shot blasters can prepare concrete, steel and other materials, like brick and stone, by removing old coatings, cleaning surfaces and add texture prior to the application of new coating and overlays. We can also remove rust, paint, mill scale and marine growth from steel structures like ship decks and steel storage tanks, doing away with more manual equipment like angle grinders and sanders.
Shot blasting is a fast, cost-effective way to create safer, non-slip concrete surfaces and, with minimal disruption, is ideal in warehouses, production floors, loading bays, pedestrian areas and vehicle operating areas. It also ensures there are no toxic fumes and minimal dust.
If you need a surface to be scabbled, textured or cleaned prior to applying a concrete or epoxy coating our bobcat and excavator mounted concrete scabbing heads can scabble almost any surface. From texturing large areas to trimming concrete retaining pillars, all our machinery can be operated outside as well as being easily adapted to run exhaust free inside a building or confined space.
Our bobcat mounted slab blasters make breaking up and removing concrete slabs and foundations easy. Once the concrete has been pulverised it is easier to load and you can fit more waste material in each truck load. Our dingo mounted concrete breakers can get in to confined spaces and complete more work faster.
Road stabilisation services
The milling heads (cold planners) we use for asphalt milling can easily be adapted to carry out stabilisation work. We can stabilise at both 450mm and 600mm widths and at depths of up to 150mm. The process usually involves milling the surface, spreading cement and then re-milling to mix in the cement. Water is added during the rolling process.
Our bobcat mounted road-marker removal grinders are able to remove any form of road-marker be it painted markings, thermoplastic markings, cold applied plastic (CAP) markings and even raised pavement markings (RPM’s). We use both our road sweeping broom buckets as well as road sweeping trucks for rapid clean up. This enables you to carry out road marking changes and lane shifts faster than anyone else.
High moisture levels in concrete and timber substrates create major issues in the building and construction sector. In situations where waterborne adhesives are being used to stick down floor coverings high moisture levels in substrates equate to high flooring failure rates.
Our large range of high quality moisture testing equipment enables us to carry out independent moisture testing. We can prove moisture levels in both concrete and timber substrates and will issue you with a report detailing existing moisture levels and industry standard acceptable levels. We can also offer advice, solutions or just fix any problems for you.
Moisture barrier systems
With the application of correctly specified moisture vapour barrier system we can lock in that unwanted moisture vapour and allow you to confidently move on with your project. We can expertly select and apply the right system that firstly takes care of the moisture vapour issue and secondly leaves the surface ready for want even needs to happen next.
Whether you want to speed up time before coatings can be applied or tackle rising damp, we have a wide selection of products that can be applied to concrete substrates to lock in moisture vapour.
Carpet and vinyl prep
Do you need old carpet or vinyl removed? Is the old carpet or vinyl gone but the adhesive is still there? Does the floor need to be ground to remove unevenness? Does the floor require FLC or does it need some ramping? Or do you need hardboard of MDF installed? Our team of specialised flooring technicians can tackle the issues of any of these flooring problems and leave you with the right solution.
Do you need a surface levelled prior to the installation of carpet, vinyl, tiles, hardboard or a timber flooring overlay? Have you got a surface that due is out of level due to a previous issue? Are you working on a renovation project and a new surface doesn’t quite match the level of the existing surface?
In some cases grinding or milling to create a level surface is the way to go. In other cases the use of floor levelling compounds (FLC’s) is the right option. At Surfprep we can give you a cost effective solution for your floor levelling problem.
Removal, resurfacing and repair
At Surfprep we specialise in removing old coatings, whether they are epoxy, cementitious, fibre glass or rubberised. We can scrape it, grind it, scabble it or blast it off to leave you with the desired finish you require. All our machinery can be operated inside, outside or within a confined space.
We can also turn your aged, stained, rain damaged, cracked or worn away concrete into a brand new looking surface again. Using high quality, cement-based products, which are applied quickly and easily, we can resurface almost any concrete surface, complete with either a brushed finish or a trowel finish. The products can be coloured, stained or sealed to add to the finished appearance and treated surfaces are trafficable in as little as 24 hours.
What’s more we can carry out repairs from 5mm to 100mm deep in horizontal applications by using fibre-reinforced cement based repair mortars. The products we use are very durable, have good low temperature performance and, in most circumstances, are trafficable within six hours.
At Surfprep we do diamond polishing, grind and seals and epoxy coatings. Whether you have a classy showroom requiring a high end diamond polish or a warehouse requiring a low end grind and seal, we have the equipment and expertise to cater to your needs. We specialise in uneven floors, expose aggregate for that contemporary style, and remove coatings and adhesives.
